Keep highs when turning gain pot down?

Anyone know how to maintain highs when turning down a gain pot wired up like in the Marshall Guv'nor?  I've tried a few versions of the guitar rolloff cap thing across the pot, wiper to input side... doesn't really seem to work, hmmmm.   I really dig this Guvnor I built using 1N914's and a simpler tone stack, but it doesn't handle turning the gain down (or the guitar vol. for that matter - maybe needs a buffer before it??).
Thx.

But a bright cap between the wiper and pot lug that goes to the input of the second stage.

ayayay!

I'm with DougH.  Try a .0047.  Worked well on the Daddy O which isn't too different from the Guvnor.
