Seems to me that gooping circuits only adds to the desire to un-goop 'em and make what is found underneath said goop public.

That would hold me up long enough to find some long-sleeved gloves, a cardboard box, a sheet of plexiglass, and a cylinder of CO2 gas.

A little corrugated surgery, a bit of duct tape, and a slow, gentle breeze of welding shield gas prevents the nasty oxygen (AND nitrogen if they can figure that out ) from setting off the reactive material. If it reacts to CO2, the local welding shop in Bug's Ear Texas also sells cylinders of Argon welding gas. Doggone near nothing reacts with argon.

Wow! Spoken like a true hacker!  :icon_biggrin:

The reason I've never been in with the goop crowd is heat dissipation issues. I know you're only running 9V, but heat can build up FAST under all that epoxy, and greatly shorten the life of some components.

Whatcha gonna do when someone brings it back for a mod or repair? Now you're stuck de-gooping, or you have to waste the money and time to build a whole new gut piece.

I could see epoxy dipping certain components, but doesn't make sense to me except to help curb your own paranoia. Anyone with a hacker mentality will probably just view it as a small sidestep, nothing big. Just ask R.G. if you haven't figured that out already. BUT, if you can make resistors look like caps, then hey... why not? If you bend the legs over and dip them in red epoxy, they look like MF caps. However, you could run into that heat dissipation issue, maybe won't be a concern. if you get it looking right, then sand one side to make it look like you pulled value markings.

Damn... maybe I could just start a company to sell fake parts and disguised parts, lol!
Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!
