"remote powering" my guitar?

Something I thought of after more or less committing myself to adding this feature to my pedalboard - you'd want to make sure that every instrument you plugged into the pedalboard was using the buffer, or you'll be sending 9vDC to your guitar's pickups. I think I'll go back to building a separate buffer in a box for the guitar I want to use it on and powering it with a battery for this reason. I've got a small project box that could be velcro'd to the back of my strap that would do nicely.
