Hi everyone,

Just thought i would post a big thank you to everyone involved in Diystompboxes  :icon_razz:

I stumbled upon this place a fair while ago and was intrigued. I lurked for some time and then finally signed up.
Finding the forum is , to date, my greatest find on the net. I have no/very little electronic knowledge but with the information
and assistance provided by the members here i have managed to complete the following builds: (some projects were not sourced directly from here, but i either used info on the forum to find or build them)

Rog Gem amp
Rog Big Daddy/Grace overdrive
Nurse Quacky
BSIAB
Orange squeezer comp
Ross comp
Rebote 2.5 delay
Rog May Queen
Metal Simplex
Phase 90
Crank Distortus Maximus
Dr Boogey
9v/12v regulated power supply
And just finished this morning, the 5 band EQ from GGG. (had some trouble but as usual, found the answers on the forum)

The forum has also given me the confidence and knowledge to draw, lay out and build a 5 x 12v 500mA power supply to charge a bank of torches at work.

I have built my projects on perfboard and vero and now, due once again to this forum i can make my own pcbs.

I wish to thank everyone who has input into the forum as i owe you all a great deal. I am really enjoying messing with these projects and as a side benefit, it has inspired me
to finally stuck with learning guitar, which has been a wish of mine for many years.

The effort and generosity of forum users is greatly appreciated and i hope, at some stage, to be able to give back to the forum in some way, to make up for all i have taken from it.

Once again, thank you all very much

Gary

Part of what makes the site so pleasant, and so darn civil, is the undercurrent of excitement about learning that runs through much of the discourse.  I suppose you can chalk some of that up to the old farts (and you can google Erik Erikson's model of human development and "generativity" in mid-life to find out why that matters), but it takes two to tango, and the clear thrill in the postings of people like yourselves who feel they finally get it motivates everyone to help out.  I used to teach university, and while there are many ways in which this forum and a university lecture hall do NOT compare to each other, still, there are few thrills equal to looking up to a sea of young faces who all simultaneously have that glow of insight and comprehension, and there is much about this forum that provides the same experience for everyone here, younger or older, experienced or newbie, who posts something that others can use.

So, again, you're welcome...in every conceivable sense of the word.

I recently had a couple "finally get it" moments, when the effort of learning finally pays off.  Without help from members here, it would have taken me a lot longer, and likely not been nearly as fun.  So thanks from me too.   ;D
