I've been listening to my copy of stadium arcadium lately and I started to wonder what vocal effects were used. I'm looking for one specifically. I don't remember which songs, but I know they used it in more than one song. It mostly happened with John Frusciante's backup. It had a sort of watery sound to it. I wish I could be more specific. I'll have to go look at the album again, but if anyone knows off-hand what vocal effects they use, that would be cool. I know John Frusciante uses a lot of moog effects, but I'd be satisfied to build any effect of the type, not necessarily the same one.

Any help would be awesome, and I know I'm being really vague, so I'll come back and post with more details if no one knows right now.

Thanks.

There was a Guitar Player article with Frusciante right around the SA release time. Much, like bordering on an obscene amount, of the strange stuff you hear going on in those two discs is his Doepfer synth or Moog effects. He was running the recorded signals into the Moog effects and the Doepfer modules and then mixing the output back in to add texture. Hella cool.

He uses the effect almost constantly on Animal Bar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gf53mrTa6s. It sounds like the volume is changing based on an LFO or something, but there also seems to be some sort of tone change and chorus in there. I think that it also changed Anthony Kiedis's voice as well at one point. Not my favorite song, but definitely a cool effect. I'm just not sure what the name of it is. I know Moog does a lot of stuff that takes a common idea and just makes it so much better. If this type of effect (or effects) has a name, please let me know. I play bass, so I'm not as well versed into what everything is called.

I'll check out that article too. I'm always interested in what kind of synth modules can be used, etc.

Thanks.
