Better sound with weak battery?

So I was never quite happy with the way my Tonebender MKIII sounded. It was okay, close to some of the soundclips I compared it to, but nowhere near as good as my fuzzfaces, MKII or other fuzzes I built.
So out of curiousity I used a wek 9v that was about 6.5v and it looked "different" on a scope.
I tried it out when I got home from work and wow, does it sound better!
No farts or fizzes, smooth, better definition, character. A much better sounding fuzz.
I had put trimpots in it before to adjust bias on the different transistors with no success, but the weak battery really made it come alive!
maybe a resistor to "sag" the supply or just keep using my old batteries in it!

Try putting a (10k?) potentiometer in between the battery and the circuit. Simple as that. Then you can adjust it exactly.
I've heard circuit benders often use that technique to starve the circuits of enough power to make the chips freak out.
