Help with J201's

The BSIAB and JFET Vulcan that I built both have the same oscillation on the higher notes.

What I have tried so far:
*Adjusting the bias.
*Removing the problem frequencies. (It left them to dull)
*Swapped the J201's with J201's from a separate order.
*100uF to ground at several points along the +DC path.

For reference I have only a year experience building 12 pedals but 25 years using effects professionally.

1. Is there something obvious that I may be missing here?
2. Is there a direct substitute with more of a midrange emphasis?
