i would like to throw a simple 'on'  LED indicator into the footswitch for my marshall JTM622. anybody point me in the right direction for schemats or instructions? is it as simple as just wiring the LED inline to the switch? thanks, steve

You'd think wouldn't you? lol!
Not familiar with the pedal you mentioned, but if it has a 3PDT switch already in it, then your half way thr! if not, then the millenium switches should help.

Here's a couple of links to them.

Most likely a Millennium Bypass isn't what you're looking for. Whatever switching system is in place you want to leave in functionally identical condition. The first step is identify what type of switches are in the pedal now.

More than likely it uses either a pair of SPST or SPDT switches. Either way, you want to replace it with a DPDT (assuming it is in fact one of the two types of switches I mentioned).

First step is document the way it is set up now. Take a picture, draw a picture (noting wire color, which lug etc...), just make sure if you get lost you can get it back to square one.

Next remove one of the switches (I'm assuming there is two). On one side of the DPDT wire the switch EXACTLY like it was in the drawing you made. Leave the other side alone for now.

Repeat this process for the other switch.

By now you should have two unused halfs of your DPDT staring at you. Hold that thought.

You can now drill your holes for your LEDs and a DC jack.

At this point you need to do some detective work (I'm hoping you have a DMM). You want to now figure out what position the switch is in when the desired channel of your amp is on. It will probably be the middle and top lugs, or the middle and bottom lugs. Which ever it is, you want to install the LED directly opposite this on you DPDT. Don't forget a Current limiting resistor. Let me know if this all makes sense, or if my assumptions were right about the switch you are using (two button, either SPST or SPDT).

Good luck.

Doh! its right thr in the first line!!! Footswitch!! Sorry, all that millenium stuff gets bypassed! Punn intended!

Ians on it.

thanks for your replies guys, always amazed with the friendly support here. especially when my novice questions come up.
anyway, this footswitch is a simple channel switching type. one wire in, one wire out. looks like a DPDT is in it (four unused lugs). i will meter it today, and i have read up on how to calculate and wire the LED/resistor combo. so is it just a matter of figuring out which lugs to use? assuming there wil be some kind of signal passing throught this switch when its open, will this be enough to light an LED or is a DC power source going to be needed?
forgive my ignorance, and thanks, steve

Your probably gonna need a dc power source to light up the LED. You could probably get away with two AA batteries at 3VDC, no limiting resistor needed.
