Noise problem

Chrissie

experimenting with a FuzzFace like circuit, but while testing I did encounter a weird problem:
When I play the fuzz, it produces a "normal" amount of hiss and noise.
When rolling back my guitar-volume, it acts like it's supposed to do.
However, as I back off the guitarvolume completely, a huge amount of noise and hiss appears and I also receive radio moscou.
This happens with every guitar I try.

Can someone shed light on what is possibly causing this noise?

Thx!

Your fuzz face is going into RF oscillation when you roll the guitar back. Put a 0.01uF ceramic cap across the power supply. Post back if that doesn't work.

Unfortunately putting the cap across the power supply makes  no difference...

OK, do the same (0.01uF, ceramic) from input to ground.

putting a cap across  the input seems to lower the radio signal a little, but the noise stays at the same level....

OK, put a 1K in series before the cap to ground at the input, and a 100 to 1000uF cap across the 9V.
