Salvaged these battery conditioners from work, they were about to be thrown in the bin.

They look perfect for a multi effect enclosure i have been thinking of doing.

They have a transformer in one end with 28v output.
Nothing super exciting as far as components go, just a heap of LM324s, quite a few diodes and some darlington transistors.

As you can see there are also plenty of small caps.

Also there are 3 lm317 adjustable regs in each one :)

Was wondering if i could maybe put a small low voltage tube amp in one as well. Can a normal power transformer be used to power a small amp or do i have to have a centre tap one?

I guess i could put a Murder One style sub mini amp in it.

They look a bit big for a submini amp - kind of defeats the point of using those tiny tubes to me. Those heatsinks are cool, though.

Taylor,

My thoughts were to have a submini amp taking up one of what will become the effects bays. It would be selectable like the effects, so i could either amplify with the sub mini amp or an offboard amp depending on what i felt like.

Ah, I see. That's actually a really great idea. Having your amp and effects integrated is a really useful setup if it's feasible for you. Sadly, as a bassist, I can't get away with a low wattage amp; otherwise I would steal your idea for my own multi-effects suitcase.

I hope you'll keep us updated when you start working on this project.
