Finally! I have succeeded in joining DIYstompboxes! I don't know whats the deal with the login, but it was torture. Had to try the whole process three times over (and don't say I didn't read the directions! First two times my login name submissions never got answered. I checked before i sent everythin, I did the whole deal correctly.)

Sorry, twas just a bit frustrated.

Anyways! I am just getting into building pedals and from there have started to explore electronics as a general interest. I understand all the basic concepts and have enough experience to build my own circuits (though with plenty of trial and error), am decently equipped, and have the patience to get through it! However, I often get myself stuck with some weird issues that I just dont have the experience to troubleshoot yet.

Here's my problem for today.

My first pedal that I built quite a while ago was a tonepad rebote 2.5. I never installed an LED, so I did that last week. Didn't have a 3PDT, so I just used the rat bypass design. I think i am going to order a good sized quantity of 3PDT soon, so this issue will probably be overrun by having those available... Regardless, I'm curious as to this:

After a day or two of use, the TL072 (IC2) was fried. Remember, I have used this pedal for quite a while before installing the rat bypass, and its worked fine. I replaced the TL072, but alas, two or so days later that one was fried too. I can only assume this is the bypass's fault. But why would the bypass kill the op-amp?

Just realized I write way too much. Sorry for the excess!  :icon_confused:

Here's a handy altered tonepad schematic of the issue to aid you people who don't want to surf around:

I forgot what the LED resistor's value was - I matched to a decent LED brightness.

Thanks!
