i made a good sized order recently of different capacitors.  mainly i was looking at the cheapest ones available, lol, AVX box caps or cheaper.  but i found these and thought id try them out.  they are the same price as the AVX mostly, maybe 1 cent cheaper but they look cool

next to an AVX for ref.  they are Nichicon Polyester films.  look kinda like the yellow translucent caps in tubescreamers

I have a bunch of those caps that I salvaged from a burned-out Bose hi-fi amp from a powered speaker system. They're pretty nice.

I bought some for the same reason ... they look pretty cool. :)

Yo

I actually like those for Fuzz Face output caps. They have a sort of crisp sound that gives clarity to the fuzziness... I got some .047's from Electronic Goldmine

I recently placed an order with them and found out I ordered the wrong parts on 2 separate orders.  I called their 800 # and was soooooo surprised that the agent picked up on the first ring that I was dumbfounded!  I was expecting to go thru a bunch of menus and end up at the root menu like most other places.  It was very easy to get an RMA to return the parts.  The agent was even willing to place the new order for the correct parts on the phone.

Well, to make a short story long, I forgot to mail out the parts and found them digging thru "the parts bin" 2 weeks later.  I thought aw $#!+ I would probably have to eat the cost of the parts and dump them in my "junk" bin.  I found the invoice but couldn't find the RMA #s so decided to give them a call and tell them that I lost the RMA #s and if it was still OK to return them.  Again the agent answered on the first ring, they referenced my RMA and everything was set.  This time I shipped the parts out the next day!

The only minor peeve I have w/ Mouser is sometimes they show that something is in stock and then I find out that it's back ordered after I placed my order.

I also find that a lot. But they're still one of the best outfits to do business with.

Their assortment is massive and their customer service is top shelf. I as many of you receive their catalog in the mail.

This rates high as bathroom reading material!  :)

Since I've breadboarded it I can only blame myself.

you guys inspired me and im awaiting my mouser catalog in the mail, never thought to order one but might get some ideas by looking through it.

and i also noticed the in stock thing cuz my recent order is missing 3 pieces that are on order, but its good to know that they'll send it when its ready

I received shipping notification in under an hour after placing my last order (of 40 or so line items), and I placed it after 5 pm Pacific time!  I hadn't seen those Nichicon film caps before.  I don't buy mojo, but I do buy cheap, so if the price is right, they may end up on my next order.  I'm bummed that they're dropping the AVX cap line, because they're cheap and have predictable lead spacing.  They seem to have replaced them with Arcotronics boxed film caps, which are 2-3x the price!

yeah i love the AVX and hope i can find a cheap alternative when they're all gone.  the Nichicons are just as cheap for some values, but it depends
