Hi!

I've had a spare wah shell and inductor lying around, and as my Crybaby is starting to fail I thought I'd quickly solder together a new one. Peace of cake.

Not.

I grabbed the Clyde McCoy schematic from Fuzz Central and built the circuit on stripboard, and it's only changing the volume, no wah. I've checked and replaced both the 4µ7 cap (only had a 10µ) and the inductor, but no change. I don't know where else to look.

The only difference is that the schematic calls for BC109s, which I didn't have, so I used the MPSA18's I had in my spare parts box.

I've measured the following voltages (referenced to ground, fresh battery):

Q1:
C = 4.0 V
B = 0.7 V
E = 0.1 V

Q2:
C = 9 V
B = 0.76 V
E = 0.25 V

I don't think I made a mistake with the board layout, and I've double (actually triple) checked the soldering.

But, it's not working, so there must be a mistake. Any help?

Here's the layout (very crude, but good enough for me; L1 and L2 mark the connection points of the inductor):

Thanks alot!

edit: forgot to mention... When I raise the pedal I think I hear a *slight* modification of the tone, i.e. the treble going down, but I'm not sure as the volume is gone too quickly.

In case anyone's interested (or makes the same mistake as I did): Problem solved, typical late-night-mistake: I accidently conected the DPDT to the wiper, not the outside terminal of the pot.
