I have put together a tube screamer using the general guitar gadgets PCB, then sourcing the components. Everything works fine except when the tone is cranked the it actually screams, i know its called a tube screamer but i don't think it should actually scream. I cant think of what could be doing this, any ideas?

Dave you should post this in the main forum, Building your own Stompbox.

Is the pedal squealing/oscillating?

Did you perform any mods?

The pedal is squealing but it only happens when you turn the knobs past a certain point (cranked to full) otherwise its fine. It does before make a hissing sound which gradually gets louder before squealing. Also this doesn't happen on the treble pick up of my Les Paul.

Could it be a ground issue?

My brothers bass guitar preamp wasnt grounded, and did a similar thing when he turned up his volume pretty high.

Just throwing out an idea, i really dont anything haha.
