Eventually you become known as "the person" who takes old/broken/weird electronics stuff, and everyone brings stuff to you.  If you're single and have lots of storage space and free time, this is a great thing.  If not... well, you have to be a little more discriminating about what you take home.

I've certainly got to start watching myself with this kinda stuff. Old organs have become my nemisis I think, especially lately.

Once a year we have what we call the inorganics and everyone chucks the junk that don't go out regularly into the street. Last year I got a few organs, italian ones from the seventies, and also got right into those little electronics toys with the samples in them.

You gotta think of where you're going to store the stuff and be amazingly honest with yourself about what you can actually find time to work with. So much good stuff is going into the ground or being shipped to Asia to be melted down but theres a fine line between saving whats going to be useful and not having enough space and becoming a hoarder.

But maybe hoarding could be the new acquisition mode... reconsuming as we go into this user friendly global financial crunch.
