How to wire these stereo jacks? A daft question!

Hi There

I've got a bunch of these jacks & I was wondering how to hook them up.


From the chassis mount side, is it Sleeve, Ring then Tip?
Also, both of the long sides has solder tags.  Does it matter which side I use, & can I use a combination of tags from different sides?  i.e. the ring from the upper side, & the tip from the other?

yes, sleeve, ring, tip like you suspect. Put a plug in and notice that some contacts touch the plug. Use the lugs connected to those.

Thanks Aron, that has solved all my problems.  Hopefully my Ruby amp will work now.  I'd used the wrong set of solder tags...!

Look carefull to which side you have to solder. Because one row gets disconnected when you plug in your cable.
I once did this, and had to search for the problem a while.

DAMN! Those jacks drove me mad...I had a ground problem somewhere, didn't figure out that I had to solder the wire to the other tab...Now I got it working...
