FUzz Face shorts when grounds connect

i have a Fuzz Face NPN silicon build going on, actually my second. first one was a success. but this time i increased the output cap to 0.1uF for more bass content as im giving it to my younger brother who plays bass.

i got all the components soldered, and upon visual inspection, the build looks nice. i havent boxed it yet to spare me some trouble just in case i need to debug (in which i already am). and yes, there arose some problems:

when i connect the CB ground to the ground coming from the guitar cables it kinda shorts the circuit and there is no output. when i disconnect the cable jack ground, the signal passes, but NO fuzz. signal passes too even if there is no power, as long as the board ground does not connect to the ground from the input jack. but still no fuzz.

ive had this similar problem too with my 2nd LPB build modified to boost and cut bass/boost treble, but after fixing some solder bridges the LPB worked (and turned out the output rail was shorted to the input rail because of some excess solder).

what gives?

also,
i am what i am, so are you.
