Hi guys.

I know there's like a rule to follow and stuff but this is just a quickie..

There is no sound coming out from my AMZ MOSFET Booster. After cranking up the volume on my 15watt amps to the max, i can hear my guitar whisper.

I've experienced this before and it was due to my putting the zener in the wrong way and killing the bs170 i had inside. (actually I killed it quite a few more times before I checked up on this forum).

Reference point A in the schematic (http://www.muzique.com/schem/mosfet.htm) gives me a voltage reading of ~9V.

I can't find my old post. Can anyone confirm, I am supposed to assume the zener's "black line" in the schematic is supposed to be the same as the actual zener's black line. i.e. Exactly the same as with a normal diode and it's orientation in the schematic, except that in our hearts, we all know that it's actually reverse biased. If not, do you think it's a faulty bs170? Cuz it's straight outta the pack from smallbear. It's about 6 months old but yea, it should still work fine right?

Cheers.

Check the pinout for the BS170 and look at the schematic. There is a fault in the layout the BS170 should be put backwords (rotate it with 180 degrees if you use the Tone Pad layout).

followed the jack orman's one...

just rebuilt it using new components on a breadboard... works fine.. resolved the problem to the zener....

seems to have shorted... =)
