Quite true.  And we're not talking silly little 1-pole filters either.  You need some serious multi-pole lowpass filtering to keep the fizz out.

well i took your advice and seemed to have fixed my problem.  I put a bass roll-off between gain stages and a two pole treble roll-off after the final stage.  Now I've got something i can work with!
