I'm building a PIC controlled contact closure (spst NO) that requires quick setting and releasing of the contact. The contact will be set 10 times/sec and I am having a difficult time finding the right parts for the job. I was wondering the following:
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Depending on what equipment is being controlled by the contact closure, you may not need anything connected to the PIC chip.  For instance, many of these contact-closure sensing devices are just a CMOS gate input with a pull-up resistor.  May be all you need to do is connect a PIC chip pin to it and toggle the Tri-state register to emulate an open/close contact.

What is the current rating (mA) recommended for the contact?  If it's less than a few mA, then the PIC chip is fine.

If you end up needing a relay, this may help you:

The circuit above is for programmable true bypass, but you can program the PIC to do whatever you want to the relay.

This kind of thread is probably better suited to Lounge/OT or maybe Digital/DSP if this is guitar FX related.
