Hey guys does any one know what type of 3 head tape deck needed to make this I really want to build this. A reel to reel or a cassette type player?

I think all standard recorders have three heads-play, record and erase.  There was a walkman type kit you can buy from "elenco".  Might be a good source for hacking.  Please try an build this!!!  I gave up because the mechanical end of it is too frustrating.

I think I am going to try and pick up a 3 head  cassette player I found on ebay, looks to have just what I need, I will let you know how this goes.

I think the more modern casette recorders have only two physical heads in them with one doing the job of play/record and a single erase head... or something like that. With what you have you want something where the play and record heads are separate and adjustable tape speed. I think this is why there are a few delay units about where two walkmans are bolted together and hacked so the playback part of the head is used on one while on the other the same head is on record mode. Otherwise you want a reel to reel. Either way you'll be splicing tape to make loops.
Monkey see, monkey do.

Maybe an elastic band or a very thin "O" ring would work?
