Awhile back I saw a layout for a small PCB to sit on foot switches to avoid the tight wiring. Hoping somone has it. I searched for awhile, but to no avail. Thanks!

I have a component I drew on altium in my library. But it would only work with that software, do you want it????

I understand them from a production point of view, but to me wiring up a 3PDT is very satisfying. Routing the wires neatly, getting all the solder joints done right... I really enjoy the offboard wiring.

I don't remember a layout, but I do remember the pedal. The pedal was the "peach fuzz" and the board was proffesional with screen printing and all. It's a simple idea but the cost may be high relative to the value. I mean I know I could solder up a switch faster than I could etch and drill a board. And then there is still soldering to be done after the etch and drill.  Then the question becomes how much are you/we willing to spend for the easier soldering job IF the board could be purchased.

Thanks Arma61, that is the link I was looking for.

I think the idea of the PCB is really slick. I'm not sure if I will go with the board or not. Chances are they are more reliable; however, cost effetiveness comes to mind. Maybe I will give it a shot and if I like it, sweet. It will only cost me a couple bucks.

Andi

They just look bulky and fiddly to me. More cost, more solder joints and less space for actual circuit PCB.

u r welcome!

some time I include the 3PDT directly on my pcb layout, like in this case, so that the switch hangs the pcb, and short wires to the pots.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Blimey.

I had no idea DIYers were so cheap about their software.

;)

I like the idea, but since you end up with just as many wire connections, it doesn't really make your life much easier. I try to put as much of the off board stuff as possible into my PCB designs.

Maybe you meant the boards Railhead did up? http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=69574.0

I have a few left if you want. I'd let go cheap. $1/board + actual postage. I think I've got about 5 left. They're quite nice to work with.

People pay $6000 for "off the shelf" software?

:icon_eek:

I would think you could get a bespoke package for that!

haha, Sorry it's just the software I use at work.

I got an $1800 conversion package for $120 just by asking nicely a couple of months ago.

If anyone wants a few 3PDT PCBs, just send me a SASE, I have hundreds (thousands?) of extra ones as we get four of them tacked onto each KoT board.
