Hey
My dad plays bass and decided to build a tube amp for bass. since I play guitar I figured can we make a poweramp and 2 preamps one for bass and one for guitar and then switch between one another. Then I use a guitar cab and my dad uses a bass cab. Would it be good to share the power amp or do bass and guitar need different poweramps(i dont think so but then again im not an electrical engineer) ??

Or you could just build something like a Fender Bassman clone, such as an AC568 model where you have a "bass" and a "normal" channel that each have their EQ and volume controls and can be used simultaneously...
http://www.schematicheaven.com/fender.htm you can find the schematic (and many more) here.

Not that there aren't people here who can answer this question, but you might want to ask amp questions at a DIY amp building forum instead, because they might be more helpful with the actual building process.  I like AX84.com myself.

If somebody makes a mistake, help them understand what went wrong.  Show them how to do it right.  Be helpful.  Don't just say "you're wrong, moron."

I would say just remember that the requirements for output transformer, power output, etc. are very different for guitar and bass.  If you play bass, you will need a bigger output transformer and more power to get the same volume levels for guitar.  It can totally be done, but you have to pay attention to things like transformer frequency response and how much juice your power transformer will supply.
