Dyna Comp debug help pls!

It was (is) a truly great pedal, but Boss would never have got away with selling one as a 'tubescreamer' but they launched their own version based on virtually the same circuit, I'm sure someone here can name the model.

One final question: Anyone ever mod a Dyna Comp to make it more receptive for bass guitar frequencies?
If so, how would i go about that?
