i was putting together parts for a colorsound power booster from the original 1971 schematic and i noticed all of the caaps on smallbear have a mf notation. is that their version of uF - microfarads or is it millifarads? i couldnt find contact info on their site to ask them...

thats what i figured but i was using my online capasitor converter and it had a millifarad labled mf so it makes me wonder. have you ordered from smallbear and confirmed that their "mf" is actually micro farads? just want to make sure!

aziltz

millifarads is huge... no one uses that for small signal electronics.

This is one of the items in my Product FAQ:

http://www.smallbearelec.com/Ordering/ProdFAQ.htm

Please check it out, as it will save you a lot of time. There is also a How To Order FAQ:

and I will make sure to add our Service E-mail address.

thanks smallbear, i never thought to look in the faq's for that. im still a little confused on the different types of caps and resistors. i m building a colorsound powerbooster from a schematic that is dated 1971 from solasound. am i safe to just use whatever componant that matches the values in the schematic?

aziltz

i would ready this site's DIY FAQ as well.  That can help explain components.

Don't know if this will help avoid confusion in the future - but as part of the standard ASCII character set, you can easily access a 'µ' symbol, in virtually any program or dialog box...

Hold down 'Alt' and type '0181' on your numeric keypad (it won't work with the keys up the top of the keyboard).

Other ones I use quite a bit:
Alt+0176 - °
Alt+0163 - £
Alt+0165 - ¥

Also, a quick search with keywords "small bear caps" would have found you this thread:
