Diode test results question

Greetings,

I'm debugging my MFOS Sub-commander (http://musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/GUITARSYNTHAUG2007/GUITARSYNTHAUG2007.html) now and have a question about diode testing.  I have many issues here actually -- I'm relatively new to DIY pedals (less than one year) and electronics in general.  But I'll keep this question to just diodes.

This build has 16 1N914 switching diodes.  I began testing following the protocol here: http://www.repairfaq.org/REPAIR/F_semitest.html#stttm.  Most check out fine.  One I believe to be shorted because it has very low voltages in both directions.  4 of them, however, have a negative reading in the forward direction and one of them has a negative in the reverse direction.  Are these bad?  Will simply replacing them address the issue or will they go bad again because something else in the circuit is bad?

Thanks in advance for your help, I'll probably start a separate thread for this debug eventually but I just wanted to get a general answer about diodes for the time being.  Thanks!

Tom
