I am rehousing a Dano Tuna Melt.  Does anyone have a definative pinout for the rainbow cable between the switching board and the effect board?  What is the purple wire for? Does one need to jumper the pot tabs when removing the old pots.  I have researched this there are varying opinions.   thanks

I should also add that my tuna melt is older (2000?) it has non surface mount components and a 7 wire harness between boards.  I bought it used to rehouse but so far no luck.

Any help whatsoever would be appreciated.

Hi,

I also have an older ( 2000 ) Tuna Melt, and might be able to have a peek inside later this evening.

Has your rainbow cable come off?  I'm not sure how much help I can give here, but will see what I can do.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply Newfish.

I am attempting a rehouse and have removed the switching board and will not be using it.  I have soldered new pots, switches and jacks to the effects board and built the voltage divider for 4.5v delivery to the effects board. A 7 wire pinout on another forum is as follows:

purple = 4.5v
blue = output
green = 4053 #3 input
yellow = 4053 #5 clip out
orange = ground
red = 9v
brown = LED clip out

It is the first description that I have seen that takes into account the purple wire (4.5v). If all is correct with this wiring definition what would need to be connected to the yellow wire (4053 #5 clip out).  I think that the newer rev pedals only have 6 wires between boards  (no purple).

As well some have stated that the tabs on the speed pot are actually ground points that need to be jumpered.  Any ideas!

Hiya,

Took a peek inside briefly last night, and I do have th 7-wire version.

The yellow wire (as with all of them) on mine goes into a header on both boards.

Will dig further this evening to see what's happening with the pots.

FYI

I finally got this up and running last night.  I removed the switching board and ran new pots (100 kohm linear),  jacks and 9VDC center negative power, and a3PDT switch (for true bypass).  I also made a voltage divider to deliver 4.5 vdc to the optical section of the board.  The definative pinout for the old 7 wire non surface mount version of the Tuna Melt is:

purple = 4.5v
blue = output
green = input
yellow = did not use
orange = ground
red = 9v
brown = LED(did not use as I am powering the new LED through the new 3PDT switch)

Done.  It was actuall fairly simple once I determined the pinout.

Thanks
