I'd like to build a Boutique Fuzz Face NPN version (GeneralGGadg.), and wondering which transistors to use? BC108 or similar?

I've heard they work well and seem to have characteristics PPL like.
I use socket for transistors in FF's, and the incap gets one too,
I put a socket for the Q2 collector, do all the Q swapping with a pot plugged in the socket for collector bias trim...then measure the pot's setting [without disturbing the pot's shaft setting], measure the pot and use a fixed resistor...plugged right into the socket....
Comparing tranny's in a FF is good fun for a good time, but eventually you may find that 'just pick some' and stick with em for a time is the way to go...you can literally spend days swapping these tranny's.
The right value Q2 collector resistor is so dependant on what type and which individual transistors used...to be assured you're getting' it' right' ...it's resistance values should most probably be played with.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Quite a lot has been said about Fuzz Faces regarding the use of lower-gain transistors for better tone. If true, this would suggest that the use of BC107 or BC547 devices would be better, particularly BC547A (preferably) or BC547B. But don't sweat trying to find these particular devices - you can always swap them later.
