Stereo/ two channel analog effects on the cheap

It's a little bit of a letdown having to run a stereo keyboard mono in order to use analog stompboxes, this is probably pretty obvious, but I just realized that it would be easy with the plastic el cheapo danelectro and behringer pedals to rehouse two of them in a real metal box, but just tie the stompswitch inputs together to a single switch.  Or even just strap the two of them down to a little piece of wood and run 2 wires from one of the switches over to the other pedal's switch inputs on the PCB.  Anyone tried this?
