Hey there

I am very bad at drilling and figuring out how many holes I can fit in the front of a box.

SO I am trying to learn to use Front Panel Express.

BUT i have no idea where to start, and no idea how to go about drawing or finding the right size pots and knobs to put on the screen.

Does anyone here HAVE or know of a simple template or project file for FPE that includes some POTS and KNOBS and a footswitch, maybe an LED and some jacks and a rough box?

I just need a kickstart so I can get used to how it works.

thanks for any help

Thanks so much

Sonds interesting, but what is Front Panel Express?  Is it a freebie or part of something else??

Front Panel Express is a free downloadable app just like PCB Express (except its for front panels - like you might find on an amp).  When you have created a "front panel" design with it, you transmit it to the company, and they give you a quote for actually manufacturing the thing.
I also thought it might be useful for laying out a pedal enclosure, then printing out an actual-sized drilling template (instead of ordering anything from the company).  I lost interest before making it very far up the learning curve, but if someone else has done this, I would also like to have some pre-defined stompbox enclosure templates.

Why wouldn't something like Photoshop work?

You know, you can get Photoshop for free pretty easily...

I like to use graph paper with small squares. I use it for laying the pedal out, and then tape it to the enclosure and use it to drill the holes.

Cheap and no learning curve.  :icon_biggrin:

hey whatever works for you

i want to use this program for a few reasons

1. i can print it out and get an idea of how many knobs i can fit

2. i can work with my graphic designers on the same free program and also my CNC guy

but, i always just use template to start....however....all the templates i have (or really just files i open and then use the dimensions, etc and keep nothing else) are for synths, not stomp boxes'
