There's always more to talk/think/ponder and understand after it's been tried.
IOW: One may never really know what you're having until you're actually having it.
IOW: Finding out what doesn't please may leave one with what one actually uses.
In a myriad of possiblities, it helps to just take one or two or more of the fundamentals involved and try them out.
"Heavy"...one transistor can do that, but it may tend toward being more of a 'buzz' than a 'fuzz' sound...place it in 'strain' circuit. Bend the bias [with resistors or reduce the V+ voltage etc.] to the point where the transistor has little or no linearity, [see schematics with 'large' collector resistor].
Some of the popular 'Fuzzes' of course have more than one transistor or active, more to work with also means more to think about..
Simple boost up front, pick your poison, the BMP uses a bipolar, notice how each stage has filter capacitors for taming HF's, and .1uf interstage capacitors [kinda bassy if you like, made smaller would reduce the 'swamp-tone'.

Two part post so I can see what I'm typing...
The boost amount of the first stage is controlled with the 'sustain' pot [wired like volume control], altering how much signal amplitude is fed to the subsequent stages, 2 & 3 being of particular interest because they are a couple of seriesed clipping stages [perhaps 'balancing' the amount of diode clipping would be an interesting venture].
The second stage boosts, filters, and clips the signal to distort it
Note what stages 1, 2 and 3 share, and how they differ.
All that to say...something like that but different...
1rst stage in the 'thing' is either an NPNBoost, compressor or a basic booster.
Second stage might be a Dist+, or an NPNBoost.
The second or last stage is often a Minibooster/buffered Tone control.
I think that's right, I'd have to go check my PB to be sure, the point being it doesn't even matter until I notice..the DIST+ then got a treble pot, other modifications and settings have made it pretty easy to dial in
1rst stage boosts [of course has amplitude control, some filtering...
2nd stage boosts or boosts and distorts a bit..
3rd Stage may get hit with a slightly distorted yet hot signal, and distorts.
4th stage often uses 3 transistors to boost/slightly distort/ tone control.
The BMP may be exactly it, heavy fuzz for sure.
Something else, such as compression first or

  There are so many possibilities...
Consider the BMP stage, Minibooster, Jfet booster, compressor, Dist+, Fuzz Face..
Some are easier to work with than others...all have advants and disadvants..find and accentuate the advantages, find and squelch the disadvantages as best you can.
A good bit of the 'Big Fuzz Tone' comes from everything in the signal path between the steel strings and the air in front of the speaker cabinet.
There are a buncha ways to make a Fuzztone do something you really want, everything matters, starting with the 'right' amp/speakers etc., then any one..or more 9v active stages can start helping to add colors to the basic pallette.

Does it get heavier than Kyuss?

Does it get heavier than Kyuss?

well maybe touch on the doom sort of side. im very new to pedal buiding so i would be wanting something easy enough to build if thats possible

fuzzo

have you found what you looked for ? (actually I'm looking for the same fuzz type)

any

My first self-built was a Foxx Tone Machine on a GGG pcb.
As long as you order a ready to solder pcb it's a straight forward built,
and for the past 5 years it's been my heavy fuzz of choice.

Cheers

PS make sure you include the octave switch as a foot switch, it's usefull.
It's supposed to sound that way.

The Woolly Mammoth is as thick and sick a fuzz you will ever find IMO. Its a four knob fuzz but you can easily make a simplified two knob version. Its a very low parts count too.
Its excellent for doom/drone!

I own a zvex one but I've made many other modified versions of it as its one of my favs.
