i know this isnt necessarily stompbox related, but the electronics behind are all similar, and i thought this would be any awesome thing to make if i am able to do it.

recently i came across a few sites that tell you how to make your own electronic drum triggers using piezoelectric transducers. what i wanted to know is if there was someone to produce the actual sound as well.

for those who arent familiar with electronic drums (me as well for the most part) you have the triggers which act as the drum pad you hit to send a signal to a drum module. the drum module is the thing that actually produces the sound based on the signal from the trigger.

so ya if anyone had any links to make a drum module that would be awesome!

I can't speak to the others linked to above, but the cymbal is actually pretty darn realistic.  I made two and was impressed.

The Electronic Peasant has a cool page on this, including schematics and PCB images:

And, while it doesn't help you build your own, I find this post to be highly intriguing...

I have old Elektor syn drum schem on some of my hard drives somewhere, quite much simpler and less parts, uses xr2206 chip

There is a fairly simple circuit that Craig Anderton had in POLYPHONY several decades back called the "Hip bass drum".  Thomas Henry liked it a lot, and adopted some of the features into his own (more complex) designs.  I may have a scan of it that I can post.

Take a look at the Boss Dr-55. One of my favourites, it's like a baby TR-808. Almost!

Nice simple circuits, on the right-hand side of the schematic-

It appears that the Bass Plus-Plus - found here: http://mypeoplepc.com/members/scottnoanh/birthofasynth/id28.html - contains most the the essential elements of the Hip Bass Drum.

A quaint old load of ringing oscillators using three legged transistors is the soundmaster rhythm... similar to the DR-55.

I had a quick look for the soundmaster schematic but couldn't find it. I could mail it to you if you want it.
Monkey see, monkey do.
