Zombie Chorus Tap Tempo

Recently, I tried out a friend's Zombie Chorus. I loved it, and now I want to make my own, but I'm wondering how you could integrate a Tap Tempo (probably from an external footswitch).

There are some people making Tap-Tempo LFO chips for sale on this forum, and if I remember right, the Zombie Chorus uses a 4046 VCO to control the BBDs, so integrating something like the MV-53 should be pretty easy.
