Quick Fuzz Face Question...

I want to add a 200-400 ohm resistor to one of the lugs of the 1k gain pot in my fuzz face. Though there are 2k pots available, I'd rather make this "quick fix" until I am able to order a 2k.

Not to add more gain per se, but to change the range of gain options. I'd also like the "sweet spot" that I set it at to be a little more to center.

Which lug would I attach the resistor to: the one leading from the transistor, the one leading to ground, or the one leading to the cap?

Thanks,

Chris

The 1k pot sets the bias as the 1K resistoance is fixed
from the emitter to ground through the 1K.
The pot varies Bypass of the cap from the emitter
to ground.
Tell us what you want to do and we can tell you how to do it.

I guess what I'd like to do is alter the gain range so that the range of the gain pot goes from 200 ohm to 1.2k instead of 0 oh to 1k.

I'm just not sure which end of the gain pot to insert the resistor.

If you want to make the gain pot go from 0%-80%, put the resistor between the pot and Q2.
If you want to make the gain pot go from 20%-100%, put the resistor between the pot and ground.

Putting a bigger pot in there won't increase gain anyway.  It'll barely affect the 100% position on the knob, but it'll make the 0% position cleaner.
