Hey all;

I'm trying to figure out how to wire a transformer for a DI box for the piezo on my electric. Is this right?

  This thread looks like an early encarnation of a recent thread where RG goes through issues involving Xformers point by point.
  Don't know if these are useful:

  I find them very tempting to look at, so far.

The thread may have been started by me. I got a good deal of understanding from R.G.'s advice in that thread, but there were still some things I was unsure of, particularly with this centre tapped transformer that I found:

Thanks

If you make the secondary center tap ground, then you have a balanced signal because the signals are out of phase.  This is how the common mode noise rejection in a balanced signal is achieved.  One signal is inverted when it is fed into the interface or whatever you are going in to.  If you wire it the way you have shown, your signal will not be balanced, though the impedance of your interface will appear much higher to your guitar and reduce loading.

Hmm, appears I may be wrong.  I guess you can try it the way you have shown first and see if it works.  I am just thinking about it without having anything in my hands or whatnot.
