Does anyone know what section I should be looking under to find someone that carries resistors, etc locally?  I know there are companies locally but can't figure out what to look under.

For listings in the yellow pages, companies have to pay a premium on top of their already insanely-overpriced ad to be listed under multiple headings. Unless a company thinks they will make considerable sales from the extra listing, they usually don't pay the extra money. I sold yellow page ads for a couple of years, and I never once had a company advertise that they sold electronics components.

I would post in the wanted section of your local Craigslist to see if anyone knows of a local retailer. I did this for my city, and I had several people confirm that there are no local suppliers. The last one closed down in the 80s. :(

You could check yellowpages dot com... intials listings are free so you might find em there.  It really depends what area your in - some places have supply stores, others... well, we're stuck with radio shack.
