Rebote 2399 short circuit.

So ive got 3 rebotes of the different versions in one box and as i do mods to it i keep shorting something which i think ruins the pt2399 chip, seems to be quite sensitive, indeed the rebote 2 was quite quiet and after shorting emits a low rumbling... ive gone through 3 chips now

Are they verified mods or are you just circuit-bending?

are you using a battery? when the battery dies it makes a weird noise for a while....
