Finding ISD1600 DIP for payback?

I was looking forward to building this a few months ago and was glad futurlec had the chips as living in NZ i get their stuff all the time, but i just went to their page and it looks like their out, as are farnell, the other people i get stuff from, so now.. is there another chip i could use? I wonder if its gone out of use, I saw that digikey has some SOIC sized ones *shudder*

I should have searched before asking this :/ looks like you can use other chips like the 17XX chips, perhaps they are newer versions.
