Muff Fuzz volume pot working then not working

G'day all! I have a Muff Fuzz circuit that is all finished(just no enclosure yet) and was working sweet as.
Then I noticed the sound was cutting out and found a couple of loose connections. One of which was the ground
connection to the vol. pot. Reflowed the solder on loose connections, checked for any other problems, found none.

Then when I hooked it up to play through it there was just max. volume and the pot did nothing at all.
I thought I may have fried it but would there still be sound comming through? I have a couple of A100k pots on my BB ATM,
so I hooked up one of those. It worked perfectly but(here's the wierd part :)) it totally changed the character of the fuzz :icon_eek:.
Also the volume was rediculas!! WAY louder than the other one. I think I only had it up to a 1/4 vol. if that! It didn't seem to have as much gain either.

Could the original pot have been faulty from the start? Or I may have left the heat on it for too long but I didn't think it would still work if that was the case.
Anyway I might try a few different things and see what happens.

Cheers,
Jason.

thommo,
You have probably wrong-wired your pot... Check carefully.
the muff-fuzz transistor version is as simple as efficient - good choice !
try a serial (not parallel volume) input gain pot (100K lin) to obtain very smooth and subte overdrive...
best regards,
I apologize for my approximative english writing and understanding !
