On beyond fuzz! (Looking for circuits suggestions)

Hey so I've built a few fuzzes, some boosters, etc etc etc, and now I'm wondering what a good next step would be.  I'm looking for a circuit that's maybe a little more complicated than what I have made so far, but not too complex that I'll be overwhelmed (still learning here!), and something other than a fuzz or a boost.  I don't know, a chorus?  Phaser? Tremolo?  Something totally crazy that I've never even imagined ;) ?  Just as long as it's something that's not too complicated, as I'm definitely still learning.

Any suggestions?

  Totally crazy and never imagined:
Tim Escebedo: Ugly Face ! Some kinda wild Fuzz-Octa-Up, Fat Down Octave/filter-shift, Space Invaders and Deep Space Lazer as well as other sounds, self ocsillates and-or reacts to signal input, very fun play !
I'd start with a plan, hope it goes right, it's not the easiest debug.
Octave, Green Ringer. Different flavors of ringy-fuzz-octave available from various pre/post fuzz or distortion chaining, because it even needs boost or something to 'light' completely.
Don't forget to count the nodes !
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

IMO, the BSIAB2 is a great build if you like that Van Halen Marshall sound. It's got more parts than a fuzz but is still simple and awesome sounding. The EA tremelo is a nice sounding yet very simple and useful circuit. If you like to record but do not have an interface to connect to your computer, the runoffgrove Condor is a great choice. It's a fender/marshall speaker simulator that you can connect directly to your sound card that will soften up that nasty distortion sound you get from a directly connected pedal. It's also very nice connected to a not so nice sounding amp. It can make any amp sound alot bigger and more pleasing to your ears. I love it!
Also, if your not a complete novice you might want to try a regulated power supply to power all those new pedals you're gonna end up with. The ultra clean power supply from GGG is a nice project.

If I were going to build a green ringer type effect, I would go for the pushme pullyou from Tim E. It is a simpler circuit and has adjustable gain built in, and sounds better to my ears.

Most things on Tim's page are fun, a lot of unusual but pretty simple to build stuff there. I've built PWM (pretty fun - synth-like), Gargletron, & Pushme Pullyou, and plan to build the funcgnosis sometime soon.

I think everyone should have a Tremulus Lune. Try the Ramping mod.

For me, I moved on to octave fuzz and the ROG amp sims, which are brilliant.

Thanks for the tips!

Tremulus Lune might be interesting (I have a Boss Tremolo, as well as a tremolo on my amp though  ::) - but still...).

I may check out some more Tim E. snippets... I recently built the PWM - which has been fun though I'm still trying to figure out how to work it into my band!  Unfortunately his site seems to be temporarily down.

Any relatively easy compressor suggestions?  I'm looking for a ton of sustain over anything sounding "natural".

I have a list of what I've built so far in my signature if you need a reference for my skill level...  Just look below this message.

Here is a mirror of the Circuit Snippets site, made I am guessing due to the unreliability or bandwidth limitations of geocities sites: http://www.jiggawoo.eclipse.co.uk/guitarhq/Circuitsnippets/snippets.html

This is one of the few sites that I have actually saved fully to my computer (images, sounds and all), just in case it would disappear or go down for an extended time :)

Two day ago I made a D*A*M sonic titan ( A jfet boosting a LM38) and that sounds really great. A kind of Distortion/fuzz  really warm and fat. ROG has a similar project .

Tim Escobedo's designs are some of the most original effects I've seen.
Here's his site: http://folkurban.com/Site/GuitarEffects-681.html
I'm planning a phuncgnosis as my next build.
