My daughter just painted a great pedal for me. I don't want to ruin it by labeling the enclosure.
Has anyone tried putting labels on the knobs? I was thinking of putting single letter on them... V for volume , G for gain , D for distortion ect....
I did a search and didn't turn up anything.
Thanks for the help.

I have and have been meaning to try it again. Here's a pic of my very first two stomps. I've got to tell you that I'm not real pleased with how this turned out but I think the biggest reason is because of the product I used. I used simple self adhesive labels and attempted to clear coat over them. The label stock I used was quite thick. I feel strongly that the results would have been better if I had used water slide decals. Also, the knobs I used had a bit of texture to the top surface. IF you can find something smooth and applied water slide (then clear coated) I think it would turn out much better. Another thought I had was to use a label that covered the whole knob top so that the edges don't show up quite so much.

Just had one more thought...if your daughter decorated the enclosure...why not give her a shot at the knobs too?  :icon_wink:

The only drawback being that the knob rotates about 300° so it will be upside down sometimes, how about writing the label out 3 times or so, in a concentric way?  Could do it on the computer and print it out on sticky transparency, maybe use the fluted radioshack knobs with the silver insert on top.

Small bear has those and also gibson type knobs (with a regular set screw) with the numbers on them, those might be cool with a label on top.

I glanced at the old mini stove in my workplace's kitchen yesterday and had a strange idea that it might be cool to use vintage-style oven knobs (a la these) on a pedal.

Probably too big to be practical, and the Off / degrees range / Broil verbiage doesn't really make sense in the context of a stompbox (or DOES it  :icon_twisted:), but maybe this inspires someone else...

Do you really need to label the knobs?, many a fine looking multi-knob pedal can be found in the picture thread that lack any sort of labelling.

Just a thought,
