Suggestions for a "crazy" fuzz?

I'm itching for a new fuzz build.  I like the sounds I can get out of my germanium Fuzz Face clone, but I'd like to go wilder -- something that might get me into some of the more extreme fuzz/noise territory.    :icon_twisted:

I'm thinking Fuzz Factory-ish (for which I have a layout), but I don't necessarily want to build that particular circuit; there are other cool options out there along these lines, no?

What's your favorite DIY design that'll go from "fuzz" to "crazy outta-control"?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

How about the Sky Ripper fuzz? That's pretty crazy looking not that i've built it, there's some layouts in the gallery etc.

Also Tim Escobedo did the T.M.K or Too many knobs, that might be quite a good fuzz pedal to try for crazy sounds?

Just 2 that come to mind.

Ugly Face by Tim Escobedo.  It was my second build after a Dirty Sanchez.  Really noisy ugly stuff.  A good variety of sounds with it, deep nasty low end to highly compressed treble sounding velcro ripping mess.  I love it and it's quite punishing with headphones.

You could also play around with the bazz fuss circuit.  I have one on a breadboard with a LPB behind it.  Sounded good and heavy but then I added another bazz fuss diode to the LPB's transistor and upon experimenting with different diodes I came up with lots of cool nasty sounds.  I added another bazz fuzz variation to the end of that and have a really nasty awesome sound coming out now.  The bazz fuss is great for experimenting...

The 4MS Noise Swash is a great one, and the Dwarfcraft Great Destroyer is a fun, very simple build with very crazy sounds. Neither require germanium transistors, which has always been my stumbling block for building the FF and Skyripper.

I've used silicon transistors in place of Germaniums though on several FF with pretty pleasing results compared to germanium versions, I normally use BC558Bs as I have alot of them around.

The Random Number Generator is neat, although it goes a bit beyond ugly splatty fuzz.

The Noise Swash is cool, and I like that there are ways to actually re-dial in clean sound with the fuzz. I just built the Great Cheddar too, and while not 'crazy' it is really flexible and huge sounding. Really a swiss army knife.

As always, my vote goes for the Shin-Ei FY-2 fuzz.  It is dead easy to build and is sick, sick, sick. :icon_mrgreen:

I built the "os mutantes" fuzz a while ago... fun, sounds good with some eq mid boost to get that 60's super fuzzy cutting buzzsaw sound.

Can also vary quite a bit in sound depending on the input cap you use. The switch switches between thick buzz and a thin scratch depending on what caps you put in there. Really simple circuit too... got me back into building stuff.

There are some "crazy" distortion design at my site if you want to kick them around.

A box with several "crazy" fuzzes with a couple knobs apiece would be great, as far as just having one box on your pedalboard that is the box of crazy, you'd always have it with you and have lots of options, but wouldn't be fiddley/embarrassing  like having 5 different fuzz pedals on a board.  The trick to actually making it would be to keep feature creep and routing madness in check.

Back before I built pedals, I had this made by 4MS:

It's a maxed out Noise Swash plus Fuzz Jade. Believe it or not, after that picture was taken, I had a few more features put in.
