Replacing LED For Hartman GE Fuzz: Need Advice

Hey guys, I have a Hartman GE Fuzz and the LED seems to be too dim for my tastes. I wish to replace it with a brighter blue one for those super dark stages or in some cases when gigs are outdoors and it's too bright outside to see if the pedal is on. Do I need to look for LEDs that have a certain value or voltage? Or can I pretty much use any type of LED? I would like to use an LED that is clear when not engaged. Any advice? I'm new to this stuff so bare with me.

The LED is 5mm btw.
