Rangemaster clone crackling/sizzling

Building a Rangemaster Treble Booster clone as per the GGG layout for a guy.

Bought a PNP Rangemaster Ge tranny from Small Bear. Used a 4.3k for R4 as per Small Bear paperwork for Ge tranny. (Sounded better anyway)

Got the circuit complete and fired up. But there is like a sizzling/crackling that is very apparent and gets even worse when the Gain knob is less than 90% up.

Thoughts/suggestions? Maybe interference since not in the enclosure yet?

Tested all resistor values to get them right.

Hmmm. got it into the enclosure. Made sizzling crackling, then it stopped.
