hi ,
some of you will know how to achieve this already but thought id post for people even more beginner level than me [ which is not difficult! ]

i made a germanium  FF usual circuit values. sounded great but too much bass woofiness at full tilt.

ive managed to improve it a fair bit by doing the following.........

changed input cap from 2.2 uf to 0.05uf
changed 22uf electro cap to 5 uf
changed 470ohm resistor to 1.2k
left vol pot at 500k and o/p cap at 0.01.
put in a 50k pregain pot wired as a variable resistor using middle lug and one outer lug [ either will work, leave unused lug open not grounded ].
this last one helped the most and if i turn it to the lowest end of travel it cleans up the intense bass some more.
i can use my old style jen wah in front of the FF now and it seems to work quite well. notes have better definition than before.
[ i use a strat and non master volume valve amps ]

hope this helps someone!
cheers -rob
