I am trying to build a copy of old rare pedal it has transistors marked bc173b. I googled them and found them to be NPN transistors but the schematic i have for the pedal (drawn from this actual pedal) has PNP transistors. Is the scematic a mistake or am i reading something wrong. What else do you know about these transistors and what would make a good replacement if i cant find them?

We could probably help you out more if you posted the schematic so we can see the context of the transistor.

Edit: If this is the same pedal as the other thread, then I guess posting the schematic is a no go.  However, are you sure the schematic indicates PNP?

if you are asking for help but wont show the schematic, theres little we can do but suggest you to learn by yourself.
good luck

could it be that it's a bc178 with some of the paint lost? that's a pnp.
