Just looking for opinions of the Roger Mayer hendrix mods and the Fuller mods compared to a regular Germanium FF. Im about to cannibalize a hornet and build one of the two.

i like the mayer spec one, but I use 250k and 2k pots.

often crank up the in and out cap values too. though if you get to big you loose gain.

Ge FF with the Mayer Mods is excellent.

I had a 'stock' one on the breadboard, and it just sounded 'bigger' with the Mayer Mods.

Input / output caps I used are 2.2uF with a 1K Gain and 100K volume pot.

...feel inspired to re-house it now so it'll fit on my pedal board...

I recently built a npn si ff with what I believe are the fuller mods - the two extra pots.  The 1k contour/boost pot is really good - then you can have the 'Mayer' setting here or roll back for less gain.  The 50k smooth pot before the input cap I've not used too much yet - but it seems useful.  I'd personally go with these instead of the fixed 'mayer' changes - but if you want to keep things simple and the number of knobs down then don't bother.

I'd also think about adding DPDT switch or two for the input and output caps.  I've got 2.2uf and 1uf caps at input and 10nf and 4.7nf at output.  The changes are subtle - but I love the traditional bassy sound of the ff and they just brighten it up a little without straying too far from that.

I'll be building a pnp ff soon with a ge in Q2 and may use a 3pdt switch have both a ge and si in Q1.  I was told by Mac on here that temp issues only really affect Q1 so the si would be there in case of any temp probs... also be interesting to hear the difference in sound it may make.  I'll probably leave out the fuzz pot and just fit a resistor (1k or 2k I've seen used) - you can control the fuzz much more better with your guitar's vol knob.
