Hey guys, see the other thread in the OT area if you interested in the background story.

Basically I want to build a mini amp because I have all the parts laying around and an empty speaker cab.

Here is the schematic. VERY simple but I am very much a n00b. That said I tried it on my breadboard and you can achieve a pretty good sound when pushing with an OD of some kind.

Here is my layout done on veroboard, does it look right? Note there are trace cuts between pins 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 on the IC. 1-8 are supposed to be connected yeah?

Hopefully this diagram makes sense. Does it look like it should work?

Thanks in advance guys and sorry for all the n00b questions I have been posting recently.

C1 should be reversed, and you need to make a connection from the 2nd copper strip to ground.  Otherwise fine!

Cheers man! Reversed C1, should I use a TRS jack for the input and ground the extra lug to the grounding strip on the vero?

Ah not to my surprise, it does not work :(

I am getting a faint crackle from the speaker every now and again, any ideas? I read thru the debugging thread but don't understand most of it :(

  Debug it anyway !
If you reverse polarized a cap, it could have been damaged, I've done this and had no noticable damage before though. Caps I can't 'debug', as long as the don't pass DC I can't think of any other tests for them, other than ''do they work like a working cap does?".
Pretty much everything else there can be tested using the Beep mode on the DMM, battery connects to 6 ? [and nowhere else], ground pin grounded to all other grounds? Apply same test with all the other connections and isolated wires.
