hey im a new member and i had a question,
i have been tryin to build a little gem amp all weekend and have not been able to get the guitar signal through the speaker (bose 1.5in)
anyway all i have managed is hissing a faint radio station and oddly enough the farther i moved away from the thing the louder it got (quite loud) i originally tried it twice on perfboard with thwo different ic's and now on a bread board with yet another ic
if anyone has had this problem or has built this before i would be appreciative of any insight you would have to offer

  There's a dot by pin 1.
a detent at one end, between pins 1 and 8.
See data sheet, chip orientation must be followed.
Test that the power supply - goes to Gnd. pin.
Then test that battery+ goes to the V+ pin.
Use IC socket or soldering iron will fry chip.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
