LDR response

  The only time I've seen LDR's in the signal path is the Tremulous Lune.
  Does an LDR in signal path have special needs or undesirable frequency/resistance characteristics?
  I'd like to add one to a Distortion+ output pot, across lugs:
  1 and 3
  Wiper to ground.
  Before signal input lug.
  I haven't decided the best 1rst approach.
  The want being to have say 20% attenuation [for smooth 'boost' volume ramp] instead of using the add a booster/switch approach I've been using to boost leads.
